Who operates this site

This notice describes information handling for screengawk.com, a Chai Media Group publication operated by Chai Partners LLC.

Privacy contact: hello@screengawk.com. Business mailing address: 1345 Encinitas Blvd #643, Encinitas, CA 92024.

Information and purposes

Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, can process technical information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, and security logs to deliver and protect the website. If you contact us, we process your message and contact details to respond and maintain appropriate records.

If you allow analytics through our cookie choices, Google Analytics measures page visits, referring pages and general browser/device information to help us understand readership. We send page paths without URL query strings or fragments, and do not send reader names, email addresses or account identifiers. The Google tag does not load until you allow analytics. Google Analytics advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled.

ScreenGawk uses Google Ad Manager and Google Ad Exchange to deliver and measure display and native advertising. Google and participating advertisers may process page context, IP addresses, browser and device information, advertising identifiers, and cookies or similar storage for ad selection, delivery, fraud prevention and measurement. Chai Media Group owns the publication; Decido manages its advertising setup. Google’s consent management service loads to determine applicable privacy choices before this site requests ads.

The current article archive includes a YouTube video using the youtube-nocookie.com privacy-enhanced player. The player can load as it approaches the visible page, before you press Play, and can send technical information to YouTube. It does not autoplay. Cookie settings and advertising choices control our Google Analytics and display advertising separately; they do not control the YouTube player. A source link and retry control remain available if the player cannot load. Linked services have their own data practices.

Cloudflare also provides hosting-level performance measurement through a browser beacon, separately from our optional Google Analytics. It measures page timings and general page/referrer information without URL query strings. Our Cloudflare configuration excludes EU visitors from automatic beacon injection. Cookie settings does not control this hosting-level beacon.

Providers and disclosures

Cloudflare provides hosting, security and performance measurement. Google Workspace receives messages sent to our publication contact address in our existing monitored company mailbox. YouTube provides the enabled article video player. Google processes readership measurement when you separately allow Google Analytics; Google and participating advertising providers process information for advertising under your applicable choices. The advertising privacy controls provide the current Google partner list. Decido manages monetization for this Chai Media Group publication. Information may also be disclosed where legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety.

Retention, security, and transfers

We retain information as needed for its purpose, business records, and applicable legal obligations. Hosting and other providers may apply their own retention practices. Security measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee that every transmission or storage system is secure. Providers may process information in countries other than your own.

Our Google Analytics user and event retention is set to two months, without resetting the user-retention period on a new visit. Aggregated reports can follow different retention rules. The analytics choice and accessible first-party analytics cookies are configured for up to 180 days. Cloudflare documents seven days of unsampled beacon data, subsequent aggregation and up to six months of accessible Web Analytics history. Optional Worker logs, traces and external log exports are disabled; Cloudflare can still process service and security information under its own policies.

The receiving Google Workspace mailbox does not automatically delete email and chat messages. We retain correspondence as needed to respond, maintain business records and meet applicable obligations, subject to manual deletion and valid rights requests. Advertising and external-media storage can vary by provider and browser; their retention is not set by our analytics-cookie lifetime.

Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, or restrict certain uses of your information; object to processing; withdraw consent; appeal a decision; or complain to a regulator. Send requests to hello@screengawk.com, identifying the publication and your request. Verification may be required where appropriate.

Use Cookie settings in the footer to allow or reject Google Analytics at any time. Rejecting stops future analytics collection and removes the Google Analytics cookies accessible to this site. We also block Google Analytics when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Withdrawal does not erase data already processed; contact us for privacy requests.

Use Ad privacy choices in the footer to revisit applicable European advertising consent, and Do not sell or share to exercise applicable US advertising opt-out choices. This site blocks advertising when Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is enabled, or when its advertising consent checks remain unresolved. Changing advertising choices stops subsequent ad requests on this site; it does not undo prior processing. Analytics choices remain separate under Cookie settings.

We save an advertising opt-out in your browser's local storage so it continues to disable advertising on later visits. It remains until you clear that browser's site data or use Reset saved ad opt-out in the footer. Resetting this site preference does not change Google's own privacy choices or your browser privacy signals.

Children and changes

This publication is intended for a general audience. Do not send us unnecessary sensitive information or information about children. Contact us if you believe information has been provided improperly. Material changes to data practices will be reflected in this notice.
