    Revealed: The 10 Highest Grossing Movies of 2024 So Far

    We’re over halfway through 2024 and it’s already clear that this has been a big year for the film industry — with many highly anticipated and critically acclaimed movies becoming box office hits and even breaking records.

    Released in May, _Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes _is currently the 10th highest-grossing film of 2024. Directed by Wes Ball, the movie has grossed $397 million worldwide.

    #9: Bad Boys: Ride or Die

    _Bad Boys: Ride or Die, _a buddy cop comedy starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, was released by Sony in June, and has grossed $399 million worldwide since.

    The New York Times gave the movie their prestigious ‘Critic’s Pick’ classification and said, “The franchise has rarely felt so assured, relaxed and knowingly funny.”

    #8: Pegasus 2

    _Pegasus _2, a Chinese sports comedy-drama, follows a former sporting champion (played by Shen Teng) who becomes a driving instructor during economic hardship.

    Released in February, the film is currently the eighth highest-grossing movie of 2024, earning $467 million at the box office.

    Another highly successful Chinese comedy-drama, _YOLO _has grossed $480 million since being released in February.

    Starring Jia Ling, Lei Jiayin and Zhang Xiaofei, the film follows a woman who withdraws from society after graduating.

    #6: Kung Fu Panda 4

    The animated franchise that began 16 years ago shows no signs of slowing down, with _Kung Fu Panda 4_ proving a big success at the box office.

    Released in March, and directed by Mike Mitchell, _Kung Fu Panda 4_ has gone on to gross $546 million worldwide.

    #5: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

    Released in March, _Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire_,_ _has gone on to gross $569 million worldwide.

    Already, the film has become the highest-grossing film in the Monsterverse. A sequel is planned for March 2027.

    #4: Dune: Part Two

    The highly-anticipated follow up to 2021’s _Dune_, featuring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, has been a massive box office success.

    The movie, the second part of an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s _Dune _novel, has grossed $712 million and has been acclaimed by critics and viewers alike.

    #3: Despicable Me 4

    The fourth installment of Despicable Me features voice acting from Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig, and received mixed reviews from critics.

    Despite its mixed critical reception, the animated movie has been a hit at the box office, grossing $765 million worldwide since it’s release earlier this Summer.

    #2: Deadpool & Wolverine

    Featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, _Deadpool & Wolverine _grossed $940 million worldwide.

    The “film can be obnoxious and simultaneously very funny, and _Deadpool & Wolverine_ is frequently hilarious. But it’s also slapdash, repetitive and shoddy looking, with an overreliance on meme-derived gags,” wrote The Observer’s Wendy Ide.

    #1: Inside Out 2

    The biggest success for Disney this year came via the second installment of the _Inside Out _franchise.

    Featuring voice acting from Phyllis Smith, Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke and Tony Hale, the movie grossed $1.56 billion worldwide and received generally positive reviews from critics.
