Jimmy Kimmel is a famed host, comedian, actor, writer, and producer. Kimmel is a natural when it comes to hosting, especially since he has starred in his own late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, since 2003. He is frequently chosen to host star-studded televised events such as the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Academy Awards. More recently, Kimmel has been serving as host of the L.A. Bowl, an annual college football game played at SoFi Stadium in California. While Kimmel has proven to be the guy that everyone wants on their roster, he was recently let go from his L.A. Bowl hosting gig.

Kimmel has hosted the game for the past two years and it was even named the “Jimmy Kimmel L.A. Bowl.” Now, the game’s name will be the “L.A. Bowl Hosted By Gronk,” because executives have hired Rob Gronkowski in his place. There’s no denying that Gronkowski knows a thing or two about professional football. The former NFL tight end played for the New England Patriots for nine seasons before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the final two seasons of his athletic career.
For Chris Sloan, the head of global partnerships at SoFi Stadium, Hollywood Park, and “L.A. Bowl Hosted by Gronk,” choosing Rob Gronkowski to fill in as host was a no-brainer. “Rob is larger than life and an outstanding representation of football at the highest level,” he said. “The L.A. Bowl Hosted By Gronk continues to merge the world of competitive sports with top-notch entertainment, and we cannot wait for the fans to experience college bowl season with Rob Gronkowski.”

Jimmy Kimmel may have contributed to his own firing, as he hasn’t held back from voicing his far-left views while attacking conservative politics. Today’s political climate has tensions soaring on both sides, and most people turn to things like football for some much-needed escapism. Gronkowski, for his part, has remained neutral on his political stance.

Gronkowski is sure to add some excitement to the game, as he is best known for his high energy, outlandish antics, and being the life of the party. He took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to announce that he will now be hosting the L.A. Bowl. “It’s my turn now,” he wrote, before adding, “HYPED to be the new host of @LABowlGame. The 2023 #LABowl Hosted By Gronk kicks off Saturday, December 16 at @SoFiStadium!”

When asked about replacing Jimmy Kimmel as host, Gronkowski was polite yet eager to have his time to shine. “Jimmy was a fantastic host and brought a lot of elements to the game,” he said. “But it’s my turn now and I’m going to turn it up, that’s for sure.” He added more thoughts on his new hosting job, saying, “Football has brought me so many incredible opportunities, and I’m thrilled to return to college football as the host of my very own bowl game.” Gronkowski is committed to bringing the fun and entertainment to the L.A. Bowl. “We are going to light up the college football bowl season,” he said.
